More digging through selvages unearthed this lucky find! "Linda" selvage! With apologies to fabric designer Linda Carlson, I used another bit of plain selvage to cover her last name. Then, keeping the word "style" I resewed the selvages and recovered the button that decorates the selvage purse you saw here.
Did anyone else have success at finding their own name on a selvage? For those who commented on the selvage purse post, I found a Lynda (Lynda Milligan), and a Jennifer (Paganelli). Anyone else?
Oh too cool, well done. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find for you. I never thought of covering buttons with the stitched together selvages. Good idea. Wonder if I'll ever find a Kerry.
ReplyDeleteI'd be able to find my (current) surname, but I doubt my first name... Kathy Schmitz is a designer and I have a sister-in-law by the same name, but not the same gal! ;->
ReplyDeleteAnd, Kerry, I am pretty sure I have some Kerry Beary fabric with your name and correct spelling on it...
ReplyDeleteGood find Linda, anything with Elyte on it?
ReplyDeleteNow it is perfect. I don't think I will ever find my name on the selvage.
ReplyDeleteNow that is totally neat!

Great work Linda, looks fab, now to see if I can unearth a Julie!
ReplyDeleteWell worth every bit of digging to find your name! I'm happy for you! :-}pokey
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you finally found one. Maybe the answer is to start designing fabric ourselves and then we can have our own name on the selvage. (Now that is a dream and never likely to happen for me.)
ReplyDeleteI've been surfing back through your blog. I saw your RRCB progress. Love that post where you said she must have elves come to decorate, bake, etc. I think when I turn the light out on those pieces at night they multiply. Love your selvage purses.
