Kiwi Bag

Monday was Mary's birthday (the same Mary with whom I'm swapping BOM "Season of Grace" Christmas stocking blocks). I made her a bag.

Fabric is from Timeless Treasure, a collection called... "Kiwi."

The pattern, "Willow," came from Australia designer Moon Shine. Instructions are given for two sizes, and I made the smaller of the two. The bag is about 15" across and 8" high.
I decided to slightly change the pattern by inserting a zipper rather than the four magnetic snaps Moon Shine suggested.
I like the features of the outside elasticized pockets, and inside, a zippered pocket and cell phone pouch.
Moon Shine instructions include making a "sleeve" on the inside bottom of the bag. This is where you can slide in a firm base - I cut a piece of foam core - and remove it when you want to wash the bag in the machine.

It's fun to make something you might not necessarily take the time to make for yourself.

  4. Linda, that Kiwi bag is gorgeous! The colours are just fabulous - can see I'm going to have to look out for the pattern. Moonshine have some great patterns - I went to one of Monica Poole's workshops and made a different but equally interesting bag.
