"Snowflake Medallion" designed by Emma Jansen, Ballarat Patchwork, Australia |
hand appliqued, domestic machine quilted |
The quilt is labeled and tucked into a pillowcase until July 30, when I will deliver it (and two other quilts - "Life is a Celebration" and "Supernova") to the Iowa State Fair for judging. Entrants expect lots of competition in the "Fabric and Threads" department that not only includes quilts - several hundred of them - but knitting, crocheting, rug hooking, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, hardanger, needlepoint, bobbin lace making, garments and the like. For me the most fun of it all is free admission to "Preview Night" on Wednesday, August 10, the evening before the fair officially opens. That's when all the entries are displayed, with and without ribbons affixed. I'm trying to keep my expectations low.
In any case, I do like my snowflake... it doesn't melt. Linda
Linda, your snowflake is a beauty and I'm sure you'll get a ribbon!

Linda it is such a beautiful piece of work. So many hours of your time. And all made and quilted by you. You should be very proud of this achievement.

ReplyDeleteOh my, Linda! Your snowflake is stunningly beautiful. You will certainly be giving other entrants a run for their money. Well done!
ReplyDeletethis is just a beautiful quilt which I have completed myself after doing the class at Emma's Ballarat Patchwork. My colors were the same as her traditional since it was using her kit but I love your colors too. My quilt too has beautiful quilting on it but I can't claim fame on it - I have it machine quilted professionally for a small fortune. I am just blown away with how you were able to break down the huge task and do each section in a customised fashion. Thanks so much for the inspiration and for sharing with us along the way how you did it! I actually feel that this is somewhat in my grasp to do my self too in the future. Previously there had been no way I would comtemplate this.
ReplyDeleteJust stunning Linda, it must be a great feeling to be able to stand back and now admire your finished work.
ReplyDeleteOh Linda it's absolutely gorgeous!!!!
