Embroidery Mini Quilt Swap

In May I signed up to participate in the Embroidery Mini Quilt Swap that concluded in June. Following the guidelines, I made this 10" X 12" quilt and sent it to Corry in the Netherlands. I learned that Corry owns a quilt shop and is displaying my quilt there!

My quilt from Jan in Texas arrived while I was away. She made it in the colors I used most often in my home dec - burgundy and sage green. It measures 15" X 18".

It's a pretty thing.

I'm so glad the mini swap turned out well for you. I am still waiting on mine, but I'm sure it will be great when I get it.

Homemade Basting Spray

3 cups water

1 tsp. salt

3 heaping TBLS. flour

1 cup rubbing alcohol (Vodka works too and makes the spray odorless)

1 clean 24-ounce spray bottle

A 16.9-ounce Best Press bottle works; 2 bottles will be needed.

Combine 2 cups water and 1 tsp. salt in a pot; bring to a boil.

Combine 1 cup water and 3 heaping TBLS. flour in a jar or well sealed tupperware; shake to mix. When the water and salt boils, lower temperature to a gentle boil; add flour and water. Cook on medium heat until the mixture thickens like gravy. Stir it so it doesn't stick. Remove from heat. Let cool to room temperature. When mixture is cool, pour it into the spray bottle. Add 1 cup rubbing alcohol or vodka. Shake well to mix.
