It's a very nice shop with an assortment of fabrics, about half quilting cottons and the other half fabrics suitable for clothing and home dec.Near the entrance were these Kaffe Fasset fabrics. I pulled out a bolt and snapped a photo to show American quilters the price: $27.95 a meter (39.5 inches).
It occasionally happens that when an American quilter learns that I've been to Australia, they interestedly inquire about the oodles of fabric I must surely have brought home after merrily buying my way through numerous quilt shops.I explain as nicely as possible what many US quilters don't know:

I'd venture to guess that 80 to 90 percent of the quilting fabrics sold in Australia are imported from American fabric companies. And the cost of shipping them here must be reflected in the prices.
I don't know about you, but it certainly gives me a whole new appreciation for the comparatively low prices we pay for fabrics, fusibles, battings, and notions.

The whole of my purchase was Australian-made or imported from Japan.

It was really nice to visit this fabric shop, and especially to share the afternoon with two adorable women. 
Even after more than two weeks in Sydney, it was a "pinch me, I can't believe I'm here" sort of day.
Just another wonderful day in Sydney. Glad to see you are having a good time. It is not only the fabric prices that frustrate but also the availability of items - like the pressing bars, very hard to find and haven't seen any since. If I try to find items I read about on blogs I usually get, "Not enough demand, don't stock it anymore" or "Too expensive" or "Never heard of it". Thank goodness for credit cards and internet.
