On January 26, 2009, I wrote my first blog post. Interestingly, it wasn't at all about quilting. Rather, it was a very brief post about January 26 being Australia Day, and making my first pavlova, a traditional Australian dessert. Back then I was all about Australia because our daughter lived in Sydney and I was visiting her each year. I even taught quilting there during a six week-long visit! I have wonderful memories of time spent in Sydney.
To celebrate the nearly 900 posts I've written, I'm tickled to tell you that my first giveaway is for a product I love... Painter's Palette Solids.

I haven't tried the Painter's Palette solids, but will be bookmarking the website so I can order some when I need more background fabrics in specific shades. I too look for solids that have a more luxurious feel without being too thin, especially the whites and lighter shades. Happy Blogaversary to you!!

I have not tried the Painter's Palette solids- but very happy to know they will be at Sew Expo. I hope to attend and will definitely visit their booth. The colors are just saturated and appealing. Congrats on your 9th!

I was not planning on attending but will definotely go now to shop at Pineapple Fabrics. I do have a few Painter's Palette solids that I picked up at the quilt shop in Deland.

ReplyDeleteLots of ooos and aaaahs going on over here. Those solid jelly rolls look scrumptious! I have never heard of this brand before you mentioned it. Would be delighted to try it! The kinds of posts I like best are the ones where the quilter shares her journey of how her latest creation came to be. Either the inspiration of the design, or if following a pattern, what things she found to be challenging and how she overcame the challenges. I like reading the thought processes. I also enjoy seeing peeks into the quilters personal life once in a while so I feel like I know who they are. Congrats on 9 years, Linda, my fellow Bernina lover!

ReplyDeleteI haven't tried these solids but would love to since I keep hearing good things. I'm hoping to explore using solids a little more this year as a contrast to my usual heavy use of prints. I've come to the conclusion that the more colors I use the better I will probably like it just like I like a riot of prints together. That means building my solids stash so this would be a great win. I have heard of Pineapple fabrics.... I think they had a booth at a quilt expo here in Dulles. I do not know anything about Painters Palette. These fabrics look so lovely. The colors are beautific, kind of like gems.

I have not tried Painter's Palette fabrics, but am transitioning from traditional to modern quilting and expect to try out some solid fabrics soon. ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I haven't tried Painter's Solids but will look for them. I have used other solid colors made by some of the very well known manufacturers. I do try to wash all my fabrics before sweing with them and know that some of the solids run/bleed. I'd love to win these rolls.

ReplyDeleteHappy 9 years! I can't believe it has been that long. Time does fly, doesn't it? The blog posts I enjoy a lot are those in which I get inspired by or learn something. I also like a little personal mixed in so I as the reader can get to know the poster a little bit better.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Painters Solids but it looks like they have a great range of colors! One thing I'm finding with my Farmers Wife Quilt block (the few that I've done) is that a solid fabric is a wonderful addition and makes the block so much more pleasing in these smaller blocks.
Congratulations on blog=aversary! I discovered Painters Solids last year and they are now my absolute favorite solid for all the reasons you describe. It would be amazing to win this prize! And I also discovered Pineapple Fabrics at the same time. Love them.

I am working on some secret sewing for the same person I gave my Trill Quilt (entitled Bad 'Ombré) to, and I'm still so happy you shared your binding method because it was the perfect finish for that quilt! I was thinking I'd be doing that again, but I think I'll get out of binding it because it is a duvet cover, so I'll be doing an envelope closure!

I too found Painter's Palette at the Savannah QuiltCon show. I bought one of their precut yellow bundles and when I got home and sewed with them, I fell in love. They are just the right weight. I did not know that they don't run, but now that I do, I might put that to the test with a red and white quilt. Of course, I'll make a test block first.
