Company's gone. No other visitors are expected. Hogan has reclaimed the guest room as his personal "office." We're thoroughly into the dog days of summer.
Every day it rains. Every day it's hot. In fact, at 82 degrees and 93 percent humidity, this is what happened to my Canon PowerShot when I stepped outside to take a picture. It fogged over! Still, I'll point out the lushness that daily rain and storms bring. We can practically see the grass and palms grow, and the blooming bushes are blooming madly. That red plant is a gone-crazy impatiens planted last fall!
My sewing room continues to seeing the same daily activity - free motion quilting. Thus far, I've logged about 23 hours of quilting - and unquilting, and burying thread tails - in Prism. I might be about halfway finished.
My personal deadline for finishing is the end of August. Prism has been entered into the QuiltFest Jacksonville (Florida), September 24-26.
I just hope this spool of pale yellow Aurifil #2123 holds out until I'm done.

How do you submit an unfinished quilt to a show? Do you just explain the quilting you have in mind?
ReplyDeleteI'm answering Nicole's question here since you might not know if you've never entered a quilt show... The smaller quilt shows do it this way: 1) You complete an entry form and mail it with a check to the show organizers; 2) Then you get a confirmation letter that your quilt has been entered, and it has to be delivered by such and such a date. So, your quilt doesn’t have to be finished until the delivery date. Only the national quilt shows require entry and pictures, and sometimes acceptance (if it’s a juried show) in advance.

ReplyDeleteI don't envy you your weather; reminds me too much of the rainy season in Singapore. There I always had to wipe the lens of my camera otherwise I had "foggy" photos. Wow, your quilting is out of this world and I can't believer that you have already worked on the quilting for 23 hours and you're only halfway done.

I try to do it as I go, so it won't seem like such a chore later. You are my new idol when it comes to FMQ. I'm not sure I could go back to my Bernina to do it any more.

This is all lovely. The dog, the quilt, the flowers, even the thread. But reading the comment reply on entering quilt shows (and thanks for that) I just noticed on your sidebar that you've memorized the book of James. That really trumps it all. Amazing...and useful! Well done!

ReplyDeleteWish we had a just a bit of your rain. Our yard is now a nice crispy brown but at least my annual flowers are keeping some nice color in the yard. Prism is coming along so nicely Can't wait to see the finish.
