A Quilt for Addison

There's nothing much better than making a quilt for someone special, and that's just what some of us in Hope Quilters (Lutheran Church of Hope) are doing.

We've been asked to make a quilt for Addison, a two-and-a-half year-old girl diagnosed in February with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Read more here.

Addison will be spending considerable time in the hospital, and this quilt will not only keep her warm, but keep her wrapped in prayers and entertain her. Members of Addison's church, and friends, collected approximately 60 prints that we're making into Attic Window blocks.

Here's a sampling of the cute, kid-friendly 4-1/2" X 4-1/2" window squares fussy-cut from the fabrics.

Each Attic Window block finishes at 5" X 5", so 56 blocks will be used to sew the quilt center.
The koala window (left) is from me, a print I picked up in Australia last year.

Using EQ6, I've created this rough layout of the 44" X 49" finished quilt.
An inner border should separate the busy-ness of the quilt center, from the outer border that will use up more of the donated fabrics. Bright and cheery is the goal here, and I think this will achieve it!
I'm thankful for the ten quilters working together to make Addison's quilt. This is the perfect example of the adage "Many hands make light work."

Even better, these Christian sisters are expressing faith in God through this quiltmaking deed.

What good is it my sisters, if a woman claims to have faith, but has no deeds?
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:14 and 26

Have a blessed Easter.
